Here is a large vintage Native American Inuit Carved Soapstone Seal Hunter Sculpture. It is large and heavy measuring 10 inches tall X 8 inches wide X 4 inches deep. It is beautifully carved and very detailed. The stone has a fabulous smoothed surface. Piece is rare and carved by well known intuit Artist Jobie Crow. Jobie Crow was born in 1944 in Kuujjuaraapik and lived there for most of his life. He moved to the new community of Umiujaq in 1986. Jobie was taught be well known artist Charlie Sappa in 1967, this same year Jobie sold his first sculpture and has been a top quality producer ever since. Jobie carves just about anything out of stone, antler or ivory but he finds it easiest working with soapstone. Jobie is also a member of the Co-op Board of Directors, the FM radio station and the Municipal Corporation in Umiujaq. Jobie’s wife is Umiujaq crafts artist Sarah Crow. Really great hunter carving and a perfect add to any collection. It is in excellent original condition. Please email any questions.
